It is a car of the Checker Cab Company , not necessarily a Checker , may also be a Chrysler Corp.or other product , not enough details here to identify.

I thought it was a Checker because the windscreen is sloped back more than the Chryslers and I don't think the Chrysler cars have the big vent there.

No Checker of that kind had chrome moulded windscreen. The vent-flap and angel of winscreen is correct for the bigger members of the Chrysler family. Stastistically id should be a 1946-48 "DeSoto Taxicab" or "S-1 Custom", as long as you don't see the Sky-view rear part of the roof.
