If I see it right this is a Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf.N (Sd.Kfz.141) which was converted from a Ausf.J version in 1942. If that is so it is one of only three such conversions. All other Ausf.N (7.5 cm gun conversion) were based on either Ausf.L or Ausf.M. Ausf.J was made by Daimler-Benz, Alkett, Henschel, MAN, Wegmann, MNH, and MIAG Ausf.L was made by Daimler-Benz, Alkett, Henschel, MAN, Wegmann, MNH, and MIAG Ausf.M was made by Henschel, MAN, Wegmann, MNH, and MIAG Ausf.N was converted by Henschel, MAN, Wegmann, MNH, and MIAG I will choose MIAG as maker for this vehicle. |

This might not be a real Pz.Kpfw. III, there was a movie made in the 90s that had exact replicas made of them, except for the roadwheels which were too big. They were build off of a modern British armored car but I forgot which. Can't see the roadwheels so i'm not sure if its a real one. I haven't heard of any real Panzer type IIIs in running condition. |

Whatever it is, it is not the real thing. Where are the drivers' hatches in the hull in front of the turret? My guess is that it is the same tank used in "Enemy at the Gates" and "Defiance." Thank God the director and the producer didn't feel compelled to "use" a Tiger tank again!!! |
