Something I've wondered about for a long time: Did the 1958 Turnpike Crusier have a push-button transmission like the '57 model or did it revert back to a shift lever? |

According to http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1957-1958-mercury-turnpike-cruiser4.htm there were two types of transmission in 1958, but both with the push-button control.. "Transmission was now your choice of an improved Merc-O-Matic or new "Multi-Matic." Both were excellent. A pity they were still stuck with pushbutton control, which was more prone to get out of whack than a conventional selector and trickier to use." |

Thanks, Dynamike. The info just applies to the Turnpike Cruiser, not the other '58 Mercury models, right? I believe they had conventional shift levers. |
