Not even 100 miles on a single charge. Doesn't seem very efficinet for cross-country driving. |

But the car is "Car of the Year 2011". http://www.autobild.de/artikel/car-of-the-year-2011-1303312.html Sorry, it´s in german. |

It was up against the Vauxhall Meriva, Citroen C3 and Dacia Duster though so not much of a triumph! Out of that lot I'd probably have went for the Leaf, C-Max or Alfa. Seriously, it will be good for people who live in towns but for those of us who need to go longer distances it's not good at all. As the article I linked says it's built in Sunderland, UK. |

I think the best solution for electric cars is a range extender (like the Chevrolet Volt, I don´t like this car and his brother Vauxhall Ampera) or a hybrid version like the Toyota Prius. |

I agree at least as an intermediate until the prices of hydrogen or other such clean fueled cars come down. The problem with electric cars is that they are the way they are because of a lack of development. Had companies began to work on the tech earlier we might see better electric cars now. It is only now that big car companies such as Nissan, Mitsubishi and PSA have started work on electric cars. Prior to this it has been left to smaller independents like Tesla or Ginetta or companies in China and India to develop the tech. They don't have the budget or the level of knowledge of bigger US and European car makers (for example Ginetta stopped work on their EV project because they couldn't get the £2 million they needed) which has held the technology back somewhat. |

And as the tech (like the batteries) are so expensive, the cars are expensive, either. For example: The Mitsubishi i-Miev costs (in Germany) about 40.000 €. You can buy a BMW X3 or a Audi A4 for this money. So only rich people can buy these cars (only for their "green" label). |

I can post sharper captures for this documentary, but they have have a rather annoyingly large station logo watermark. What's better, blurry or with the watermark?![]() |

IMO, watermark. |

indeed, that one is better, and the watermark is not even hiding a part of the car, so it is fine. (a lot of TV series captures have TV channel logo anyway) If you redo all captures, remove the thin black border though ![]() -- Last edit: 2012-04-23 14:34:11 |
