ZiS 5 with Saurer engine and radiator, 1934 Link to "www.facebook.com" It appears to have taken part in an endurance rally Moscow - Tbilisi - Moscow, where Soviet trucks were fitted with diesel engines from Western brands to see if they ran better. "Za Rulyom issue 19/1934" https://imwerden.de/pdf/za_rulem_1934_19__ocr.pdf Perkins engines seem to have been the most durable, followed by Thornycroft, Crossley, Büssing, MAN and Saurer.
