Is Thames Trader a mad idea? Feel free to say yes .... |

No, that's what it looks like to me too. |

Close ... it's an Ebro, like this one: http://www.truck-photos.net/picture/number596.asp |

Further to the above ... further research seems to suggest it's an Ebro C150, about 1965 (but Spanish members may want to correct me on the date). Although it's understandable that dsl and valiant1962 were misled, there was never a Thames Trader equivalent. |

Is it known where this was shot? In Spain it would be an Ebro, of course, but what if this is in Portugal? |

It would still be an Ebro, Mike: it couldn't be anything else. Certainly not a Thames or any other sort of Ford. |

As I know next to nowt about lorries, I'll ask an idiot's question. Is there any connection between Ebros and Thames Traders, or do they just look similar sometimes? |

Ebro had manufactured the earlier Thames ET6 under licence as the B35/45 with little alteration. When the Trader replaced the ET6 in 1957 Ebro made a substantially different version (which may have been designed by Ford UK). For instance, C-series Ebros had the front axle set further forward than the Trader's, and Ford UK's smaller versions were normal, not forward control, based on the German FK series. -- Last edit: 2010-12-20 21:12:38 |
