Is there a way to find out whether it's a Tahoe or Suburban?

Isn't it written on the Side protection strip
and would Tahoe be written that long

8-lug wheel suggests 2500 or 3500 series.

do we know for certain that this is an SUV..? i don't see any reason that it couldn't be a 2500 truck...

I agree... from the front doors forward, the C/K, Tahoe and Suburban are all the same.

it's definitely a 3/4 ton, and the emblem on the door would be a gold bowtie and "2500". barring verification that it actually is an SUV, i'd say that most likely this is a 2500 truck from whatever year the grille gained the bulging central horizontal bar forward (1994+?). silverado trim..? if someone is certain that it's an SUV, i'm pretty sure that it would have to be a suburban, as i don't think that there was ever a 2500 series tahoe.

I was mostly speaking in generalization that they are all the same but you're right... either a truck or Suburban. I've seen that steel wheel used on both vehicles. 1994 is the first year for that grille. I've heard it said on here that style of rear view mirror wasn't added until 1995 but I know I've seen 1994 pickups with both style mirrors and I know Suburbans had that mirror style as well in 1994. If it is a pickup or a 1994 Suburban than it would have Silverado trim but 1995+ Suburbans came in base, LS and LT trims.

Was that style running board available for the truck? It was for sure an option with the Suburban.

Definitely a good thought (didn't notice them earlier) but it is possible that if the truck couldn't get them from the factory they could be aftermarket.

This is a 1996+ Suburban C-2500 [GMT410]. The running boards are the giveaway. They were not available on C/K pickups, only Tahoe and Suburban. They were new for the Suburban on the 1996 model year as seen here in the official press kit from GM Heritage Center.

See page 3: "Optional Running Boards (RPO Code: BVE)".

This is a C-Series two-wheel-drive model as it has chrome wheel arch trim, whereas a four-wheel-drive K-Series would have fender flares.
