We have a few listed as Mk.VII and some as Phase VII, is there a difference or should they be changed to the same? |

No difference and yes they probably should be changed to the same. Phase is probably more accurate for the terminology used by Rootes, but most sources describe them as Mark. I've had a go at cleaning up all the Minxes for identifying models and dates, but probably worth a revisit with an admin to standardise the terminology. |

For me this is a 1953 Hillman Minx Phase VI saloon because it appears to have the short trunk .The 1954 Hillman Minx Phase VII saloon was almost identical but had a longer trunk offering more luggage space.1953 was the 21st anniversary of the Minx. |

Be careful with the Hillman Minx. The reason why the mk/phase/etc. is not set automatically like for many others is that it depends on the years: there were phases, then later series. But indeed I do not know why there are some listed with "mk", and it seems to be duplicate of "phase" ![]() -- Last edit: 2011-01-14 14:59:45 |
