 Nonono, see the back lid with the pre-war plate-space and the bigger air-intakes. It's older - to be precise, a 1938 KdF-Wagen. First owner was Robert Ley, the leader of the "Deutsche Arbeitsfront". The car was left over 1945 in Ostpreußen (resp.in the "Memelland", which belonged now to Lithuania), and had a hard life. So it got a DKW-chassis and a DKW-engine. Owned and restored by a private collector. Together with his son, he owns roundabout 70 classic Volkswagens. Real old stuff, like Kübelwagen,. Yes. And *nitpicking modus on* .gif ";)") "orign Austria" would be correct, a construction, made by the Austrian citizen Ferdinand Porsche in his mechanical garage in Gemunden/A. The question, if before or after the 12th of March http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anschluss , is not important, as the work was done before. |

As a sort of "übernitpicking": AFAIK Ferdinand Porsche built these early Volkswagens in the garage of his house in Stuttgart. Only the early Porsche sportscars were made in Gemunden, Austria. |
