Are these things Fords or Thames? In researching this one I have found that we some of each on the site; Thames 10cwt and Ford Thames 800. Was Thames regarded as a separate make? It was certainly built by Ford using Ford components. Back in the early 1960s my father owned one of these and it was one of the vehicles I learned to drive in. I always considered it to be a Thames 800 - because that is what was written on the front. I never thought of it as a Ford but it would be simpler here to call all of the Thames models Ford. The example here is a Freighter model but there were various configurations of passenger carrying models as well. |
