Japan. I can see some hiragana above the wheelarch. I couldn't find any notable uprisings in Japan during WWII, so this might be in an occupied territory (Korea, Taiwan) |

It says ニュース (news) on the side so this is a broadcast van of some sort. Newsreel could be possible, but it's more likely this is from after 1953 as TV broadcast wouldn't start until then. Either way, it's no prison bus. -- Last edit: 2023-02-13 17:16:15 |

I'm now about 90% sure this is footage of the May Day riots in 1952, when a protest again the US-Japanese Security Treaty got out of hand. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_May_Day EDIT: I was right; look, here's the truck (not that it helps with ID) https://twitter.com/keroro2gunsou/status/1374706300844527617 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Op1kSWOCCs -- Last edit: 2023-02-13 19:11:15 |

So it's a newsreel van then, given the 1952 date and filming crew on the roof. If Japanese, either Toyota or Nissan is more likely. However, Japanese brands weren't seen as being reliable back then so an American brand could also be possible... |
