A different car I think - no tool box on the running board etc. It is difficult to exactly date Lincolns of this period.

Sport Touring is not a model name, only a body style. As Lincoln only produced one model (the Model L) perhaps the space should be left blank as you are so insistent on not using the correct designation for them.

This is what Lincoln called their car, why should we call it something else? Or nothing at all?

Model L is of course a correct designation, for the chassis. But it wasn´t used commercially.

I don´t know the reasons for your view, since you only say it can´t be this way. With no argumentation for your case I can only guess. Is it because this kind of naming a vehicle isn´t unique per model?

Then we have a problem. If we follow that line of thought there will be quite a few cars to have their modelnames erased. If we begin with bodystyles, like for instance Town Car and Brougham, both very common as coachbuilt bodies and factorybuilt varieties over the years. Back in the day, sometimes only known by that name also. If that isn´t possible to use as designation in your view, should that also include more recent Lincoln Town Car and Cadillac Brougham? Basically it´s still just a bodystyle.

If we include what might be considered a trim-level designation like De Luxe, Special or something like that, a whole lot more will be left with the model field empty.

And if we include what´s only a reference to the engine like 1½ Litre, 2.5, Six, V8, 1100 or any of the numerous variants on that theme, there won´t be much left. For instance almost every Volkswagen before 1971 modelyear will be without designation.

It is still only a body style. In Cadillac's case the late model Brougham is a separate series. Looks as if you have some thousands of pictures to change to all body style instead of model names. The Jordan ad is selling the sedan body not the touring or roadsters - hence it is called a Jordan brougham - no doubt somewhere there is an ad for the Jordan roadster. The correct model name for the 1925 Jordan Eight is Jordan Line Eight.

All pre-Zephyr Lincolns and all pre-1934 Cadillacs should be left with no model name - although I would prefer to see them with the Series or Model designation. The later Lincoln Town Car is a model name. Much the came as Buick did in the 1960s when the various wagon models became a series in their own right and were called Estate Wagons etc. The earlier ones were just wagons within a series - Special, Century etc

Yes many cars will be left with the model field empty.
