Too obvious - an M4 Sherman. A2 or A3? |

BTW, in the second battle scene (when they land on Saipan) there was also at least one M5 Stuart visible in the background. -- Last edit: 2011-03-01 21:46:47 |

The long armour at the rear of the tank would indicate it is a M4A3 |

Three M4A3 Sherman reproduction tanks were constructed for the Movie industry on the chassis of M3 Grant / Lee tanks - they were used in the making of "Windtalkers" and 'The Pacific' TV series, amongst others Two of those replicas (reproductions?) are now at the National Museum of Military Vehicles in Dubois, Wyoming with the third at the Egholm museum, Kirke Hyllinge (Denmark) |

I work in the restoration shop for the National Museum of Military Vehicles. We have restored the two "Shermans". One of them is restored back to what it looked like for its use in the "Pacific". Only the paint scheme has changed. It is operational and we run it in the Dubois fourth of July parades. The second, we highly modified, changing its entire appearance. It now sits in our Iwo Jima Display at the museum. If anyone has any information regarding the original builds of these replicas, I would love to hear from you. |
