Because of the bigger tail lights I'd say a 1400 A. That is 1954+. |

By the side trim it is a solid color 1956 Fiat 1400 B (and not 1400 A) |

Sorry, but I don't understand this. As this link quite well shows /vehicle_86575-Fiat-1400-A-1954.html there were 1400 A with side trims. Were these optional extras, do they indicate it's a 1955 if 1400 A or did someone fit them after 1956 to make the 1400 A look like 1400 B? The only thing I can see that points towards a 1400 B is the slightly bigger rear windscreen. I should have spotted that earlier... -- Last edit: 2011-03-09 20:38:11 |

If it helps, my info is that 1400A revision in May 54 (UK date) brought in the bigger rear window (and the extended rear wings). April 56 1400B put indicators on front wing on the chrome side strip, but no mention of when side strip arrived - implication that it was present on (later?) 1400A. |

The strange thing is that I owe a 1954 1400A (for restauration sometimes in the future), but as it's locked in a barn some distance from here I can't check it up. When studying my drivers manuals for 1400A and B the photo of the A has a smaller window than the B, but then again it might be because it's a photo of a prototype or otherwise misleading in some way or another. Anyway as the side strip doesn't indicate it's a B, how can it be noted as a 1956+ 1400B? (The badge I distinctly remember from my A, although I think the boot handle isn't chromed) -- Last edit: 2011-03-10 01:37:54 |

That's OK if the photo of the A is a car from April 50 - April 54. But I'm only someone who has a book which lists changes and dates, not a 1400 expert who knows what to look for or what these changes look like. |
