Introduced Nov 85 until Aug 88, based on SRi but with some trim deletions. Got green tints Aug 87, so this is earlier. Other info: "1283 Cavalier Convertibles were registered in the United Kingdom, from a total build of approximately 3500 in Germany from 1984 to 1988. Based on the Opel Ascona C Coupe, the cars were created by three different plants, the most prolific being Hammond & Thiede. The others were Keinath* who produced 500 convertibles and Voll who only managed to produce 100 cars." http://www.motorbase.com/auctionlot/by-id/1142325538 and more info at foot of http://www.mk2cav.com/index.php?cat=230 which suggests Hammond & Thiede and Voll were the same company, plus some other Cav Mk2 stuff. * = Keinath presumably the same as /vehicles.php?make=Keinath&model=GTC+Coup%E9&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on . With the 2 cars on this page and another entry, we've got 2 of the 1283 Cavs, but apparently none of the 2200+ Asconas (which seem to have been called C3 instead of Ascona according to the Mk2 Cav link above). -- Last edit: 2011-08-19 03:36:28 |

This car was introduced (on the Dutch market) in May 1985 as Opel Ascona C Cabrio, but the registration documents mentioned the make Hammond & Thiede. See this 1985 Dutch Road Test: Link to "www.autotekoop.nl" |
