1977-1982 Mazda 626(Capella in Japan,Montrose in England);that series was sold for a while also in Italy,1979-'80 imported(curiosly by same Saab Italian Importer--Saab don't have got ties with Mazda never)

 In France it was France Motors (where this car is registered), who started in 1952 with Chrysler and Rootes car. When Rootes and Chrysler started to be distributed by Simca, they searched for new company to distribute. They distributed the marginal Jensen, Ghia and De Tomaso, but also Chris Craft boat. The founder discovered Mazda at 1967 Bruxelles motor show and started importing Mazda for 1968 model. In 1971, France Motors became a company of the TKM group. In 1979 (date of the film) France Motors distributed Mazda and Innocenti in France.

 I'm with you. I'd say that's an early Mazda 626 (CB2) Coupe (1979-81)
It must have been brand new in the film.

Also Italian drivers had got that coupè model(an Italian motor magazine at time of launch of range on our market in 1979,saidin an article,such headline:"626:was a Fiat truck's name,now is a Mazda's saloon name"--the Fiat truck called such the Mazda was marketed at end of '30s until early '40s)

 Au vu de la photo, il s'agit d'une berline 4 portes (même couleur, et surtout coupé beaucoup plus rare...) Mais il s'agissait de voitures prêtées par le Service Presse de l'importateur, si possible les derneiers modèles, histoire de les montrer à l'écran... Coup de pub!
