2003+ Nissan Sentra [N16], of Phillipine origin, also known as Sunny Neo, from what I've read on Sentra, Sunny and Pulsar Wikipedia pages. -- Last edit: 2012-02-20 01:52:30 |

The Wikipedia article only mentions the name "Sunny Neo" in the paragraph about Indonesia. I would assume that the name in Taiwan is Sentra, even for the facelifted N16 (if Taiwan got it). Also, we should not assume that models for Taiwan were made in the Philippines. Nissan has a local manufacturing partner in Taiwan, Yulon Motors. -- Last edit: 2011-03-20 22:21:37 |

So still N16? Phillipine origin? (as it does not exist in Japanese Nissan models?) |

Wikipedia displays it as the facelifted N16 (Generation 2), but for the origin I can't say for sure it's The Philippines because the website article about The Philippines (url) specifies it was introduced there in February 2004 while in Taiwan it was a 2003 model. The Wikipedia article says it was introduced by Nissan Philippines, maybe we should trust them unless more accurate information is found. -- Last edit: 2011-03-21 13:26:03 |

The Nissan Sentra article does indicate that there was N16 Sentra production in Taiwan, so I would put model origin Japan, built in Taiwan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Sentra#Name_variations We should be careful about reading too much into Wikipedia articles. When an article says something like "Nissan Philippines introduced", it may just be a user from that country writing only about their home market. -- Last edit: 2011-03-21 12:43:36 |

This is the 2003 facelift for Southeast Asia of the Nissan Pulsar, so it should be listed as made for Taiwan, because this front end was not available in Japan. See this link for their facelifted version of the Pulsar, called Bluebird Sylphy in Japan and Sunny or Sentra in Southeast Asia: http://www.nissan-global.com/EN/NEWS/2003/_STORY/031225-02.html . Also, in Taiwan particularly this version was called Sentra M1 ( Link to "web.archive.org" ). |

It's still not changed, but I think this is obviously a case where the made for attribute shall be used. The Wikipedia page for Nissan Pulsar says about the 2000-2005 generation: "To keep the Bluebird nameplate alive, Nissan shifted it to the four-door version of the Pulsar, and named it the Nissan Bluebird Sylphy for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM). In the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Indonesia, the Bluebird Sylphy is sold as the Nissan Sentra." ( Link to "en.wikipedia.org" ) The page for Nissan Sentra says: "The Philippines also used the Sentra name for its version of the Pulsar. (...) The early model is similar to JDM Bluebird Sylphy. Nissan Philippines introduced a model with new headlights and tail lights, that was later renamed back to Sentra" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Sentra#Name_variations ) That model is the same one that was manufactured in Taiwan. ( Link to "web.archive.org" , Link to "web.archive.org" ) And that model's front end is obviously different than the Japanese version of the car, as described by the Nissan Bluebird page: "For 2004, the Bluebird Sylphy received minor change with revised grille, and all-new rear end with Teana-like tail lights." ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Bluebird#G10_series ) Also, the page for Nissan Bluebird Sylphy says about the same generation: "The G10 Bluebird Sylphy is basically the N16 Pulsar with a more luxury touch. The Bluebird Sylphy has a vertical chrome grill." ( Link to "en.wikipedia.org" ) The front end of the 2000-2003 Nissan Pulsar is like this: Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" While the front end of the 2003-2005 Nissan Pulsar is like this: Link to "commons.wikimedia.org" The front end of the 2000-2003 Nissan Bluebird Syplhy is like this: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:2000-2003_NISSAN_BLUEBIRD_SYLPHY.jpg The slightly different front end of the 2003-2005 Nissan Bluebird Syplhy is like this: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:2003_NISSAN_BLUEBIRD_SYLPHY.jpg The front end of the 2003-2005 Nissan Sentra, for Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia, looks like this: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Nissan_Sentra_B16_Ph.JPG It is obviously different than the Japanese version, that's why I think the made for Taiwan attribute shall be used for this photo. Also, because the movie is filmed in Taiwan, please change the name to Sentra M1, as it was marketed in Taiwan.
