Neptune ◊ 2011-03-23 19:29	2009-2011 model due to the Flex Fuel emblem, signifying the Expedition EL can burn E85 ethanol. The model name emblems on the driver & front passenger doors was also deleted starting with 2009 models. 2009-onward Expedition & Expedition EL/Max received an updated 6-speed 6R80 mechatronic automatic transmission with uphill/downhill gradient and altitude shift logic. The aforementioned uphill/downhill gradient and altitude shift logic allows the Expedition to be optimized for towing trailers in hilly and high altitude mountainous regions.
