1987 was the first year for a U.S. convertible, and this is an 1987-88... but something is wrong beyond that, because in that age range we only received the 325i in the convertible. the 318i convertible didn't come to the U.S. until after this bumper style (as well as the air date of the show) had come and gone. with that in mind, this has to be a 325i, even though the hint of badge that we can see does catch the light oddly at the 2nd digit. what we have to be seeing there is the left side of the top stroke, and the top of the left down stroke of a "2"... otherwise what we have here is a non-existant car. ![]() 1987+ 325i Cabrio [E30] |

There were no 318i Convertibles anywhere before 1991 AFAIK. |

i would agree with that... not here for sure. after losing the single cam 318i for the 1986 model year, we got the E30 318i (twin cam) for 1991 as a 2 or 4 door sedan and a convertible, and again only as a convertible for the 1992 model year when we first got the E36 coupés and sedans... -- Last edit: 2011-04-16 17:39:50 |
