Rolls Royce? |

Hi, Rolls normally have the top of the bonnet nearly level with the top of the rad. Moon are very similar. This looks very much more like a cca 1925 Roamer Roadster. Regards Vintman |

The only problem is that the proportions of this car are not right for a Roamer. The last Roamer was built in 1929 and the car here has front fenders in mid 1930s style and quite fat tyres. -- Last edit: 2011-04-27 12:24:24 |

Yes, Did not like the mudguards at all. Moon closed 1929 as well with flat mudguards. a Rolls it aint ! Unlikely to be a Belga Rise so guess this leaves us with a cca 1928 McFarlan Roadster which did have rounded mudguards before the end in 1928. Regards Vintman |

I suspect that this car has been updated at some time. I might have to look through some McFarlan pictures. |

To my mind this is an old (pre 1925)Rolls Royce Silver Ghost chassis which received a later Brewster Playboy roadster body in the early thirties (probably replacing a chauffeur driven body), which then was updated in the later thirties with smaller wheels and adapted mudguards, and then getting dilapidated and run into the ground in the course of the forties. |

I haven't studied them all but there must be differences in the angles of the upper slopes of the various radiators; Rolls-Royce and McFarlan etc. |

Assuming this car is on 20 or 21" wheels it looks to have a wheelbase of around 140". |
