Introducesd in 1961, but model year 1962. And 1962 only, because model year 1963 already got thicker bumpers on the L. To my surprise we have a lot of Renault R4 and many more Renault 4 (without 'R'). I thought we once had discussed this and decided to drop the 'R', similar to the Tatra names without 'T'... |

I found normal that the correct name has to be used, as I've pointed out in /vehicle_396552-Renault-R4-1961.html. The fact that "R4" or "R8" is too similar to 4 or 8 shouldn't be a reason for not adopting the same rule, and ignorance or confusion in people's mind is not a good reason neither. All litterature on Renault I've checked makes the difference in naming the models. All R3,R4,R8 and R16 are identified with the R till 1965, The R is definitively dropped for 1966 YM. That's a historical fact that we should respect, and if Tatra is in the same case, it should be changed too. |

I totally agree we should use the correct name, just missed the part that we chose for Rx for pre-1966 Renaults. Merci por l'info, I'll try to keep that 1966-date in mind ![]() |

I did it time to time since several days. It's done for all the R4 et R3 (1962 to 1965). Of course if you can change it in few seconds for R8 , R8 Major, R8 Gordini for period 1962 to 1965 included I would appreciate. Don't forget the R16 for Model-Year 1965 too. Thanks. |
