 is it sure that it is an Elite? From what I find the Elite looks a little different, and was a coupé (this one seems to be a convertible...)

 It is the Lotus Elan, probably version S3 (1965-68).

 By the type of hood, I would say a 1965 or 1966 S2 [Type 26].
