I can actually tell you with certainty that it is a 1989 Volvo DS (WHGM). I actually purchased this truck about 6 months ago from the studio back lot - it was just collecting dust. After going completely through it mechanically, we made a few changes to it cosmetically to make sure that there were no copyright violations, and it looks as good as it did on the day it was made. The truck was registered and titled in California as recently as 2007, where it was used in a local 3-truck operation to haul freight cross-country before it was sold to the prop shop who did the makeover. It's actually up for auction on eBay right now (auction runs through Tuesday August 23rd, 2011. It ends at 7:30 PM Pacific Standard Time). You can search eBay for the item number to find it if you want to see it; 140592060836 Or try using this link; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140592060836&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT Here's a few pictures of it on the lot when I first saw it - and below that are a few pictures of it when we finished it; ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Link to "i985.photobucket.com" -- Last edit: 2011-08-15 20:48:31 (Neon) |

The truck is a 1989 Volvo Whgm (White GM). I purchased this truck from the ebay auction back in 2011. It is now registered in Texas. It sat for over 2 years until I decided to put it to work. You can see it on I-20 up to Dallas from West Texas and I-10 from El Paso to San Antonio/Houston. It still has the original Cummins 315 Formula engine! This baby is almost at 2 million miles and going strong!! They sure don't make them like they used to. All mods have been removed to make it street legal but still have the pieces. The only thing that has changed as of this moment is the bumper. I fabricated a full metal bumber that is an eye catcher. You can not miss this oldie but goodie barreling down the interstate! |
