The year Yes. 1981 Mini Clubman Estate HL (for the metallic colour, not available in Italy before). This car should have in the front grille the new for the time Leyland badge. The colour was a sort of between silver and very light blue metallic but I can't remember the name. I will check in my personal archive... |

That would be Pewter Metallic, from 1980+ |

Nice - one of the last Clubman estates and probably the final Italian-based example we have. |

It is not Italian based. The Italian Mini T by Innocenti (not in Clubman style) was eliminated in 1973. Since 1974 The Clubman Estate was (very successfully) imported from UK. ...and Yes, the colour is Pewter metallic ! -- Last edit: 2011-07-07 09:40:05 |

Agree date and colour reference. In UK this became 1000 HL Estate with new grille and return of 998cc engine instead of 1098cc and was the only Mini version which continued the Clubman front after Sept 1980 until dropped in Feb 1982. Unclear from this end if Clubman name continued for Italy at this point. Kess models - an Italian firm - have released what they call "1981 Austin Mini Clubman Estate 1100" in two versions, both with the 1981+ revised grille, one in this Pewter Metallic colour and another in (I think) Sandalwood. I think their naming is confused with the Austin and 1100 elements but unsure about Clubman, which the models also show on the rear door stickers -- Last edit: 2022-09-15 23:20:57 |
