It says LK in the radiator so it must be Laurin-Klement |

The name should be written 'Laurin & Klement'. As this truck seems to be made before the end of WW1 the country of origin should be Österreich-Ungarn (Osztrák-Magyar, Austria-Hungary), of which the flag is either ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2006-08-16 12:32:23 |

Can't we chose either Austria or Hungaria as country? It will not be a so big problem I think ![]() -- Last edit: 2006-08-16 13:40:39 |

Well, it's the same as Yugoslavia with the Yugo. And with vehicles made in the Third Reich, should we put the Nazi flag? |

Problem? I didn't think this word existed in your vocabluary! ![]() As the factory lies in Bohemia, which today together with Moravia is the Czech Republic, it was part of the Austian half, commonly known as Cisleithania, of Austria-Hungary. You might have noticed that I already used the Austrian flag. |

But isn't Laurin & Klement a forefather of Skoda brand? So, the Czech flag does not sound odd... |

The Škoda Works (Škodovy závody) took over Laurin & Klement in 1925 and most cars thereafter were named Škoda. But as Czechoslovakia only became an independent state in 1918 everything before is from Austria-Hungary. For the other Laurin & Klement listed I used the Czechoslavakian flag: /vehicle_41421-Laurin-and-Klement-Torpedo-1925.html |

I saw it after I posted my message ![]() Well, I could add the flag actually, as I already had to add the USSR, DDR and EU flag. One more is not a problem (btw I still wait your picture for Belize (BZ) & China "letters in an oval"). So it is still worth that I add it? ![]() -- Last edit: 2006-08-16 20:49:11 |

As I am not yet sure which flag would be correct and also the red-white-red flag was in use for some purpose at that time, I would say we wait for the moment. Perhaps Junkman remembers his school's history lessons. ![]() Flags change quite frequently with some countries. Germany is a good example. But some old flags, even though historically correct, may not be regarded very highly from today's point of view. Perhaps we should make a list and discuss this topic in the forum. I'll send you the missing ovals later. One country's flag that you could add is North Korea (and rename Korea to South Korea -- sadly they are still separated). |

North Korea produces(d) cars? Well, I could make a separate flag, but I guess that we won't get much members from there either. Edit: there is already a North Korea flag actually, ![]() I took the country name list from MSN website if I remember well. -- Last edit: 2006-08-16 21:21:28 |

Of course it could be a replica, perhaps made with a genuine Laurin & Klement radiator. ![]() |
