Looks like a Citroen Traction hotrod?!? (Not a very serious suggestion). Nice Watneys beer cart (unlike the beer). -- Last edit: 2011-07-18 18:48:00 |

LHX is July to December 1939, Middlesex County Council. Despite the AA badge, I think this might be a 1938/9 DKW Meisterklasse F8, also built post WW2 as the IFA F9. However, if someone said it was a 1939 Hansa 1100, I couldn't argue with that. -- Last edit: 2011-07-18 20:01:21 |

@john: rather not. It's too big and protuding for a DKW. P.S. F8. The IFA F9 was the Eastern successor, as the West German 3=6, too, based on the 1941 Reichsklasse-prototype, but not on the F8 ![]() |

Unlikely to be post-war German car in 1948 UK. Also just visible in /vehicle.php?id=417050 where it looks very low roofed. |

As I said on /vehicle_417044.html , I still think this is a Slough Citroën which has lost its chevrons and front bumper; look at the front wheel. |

I agree this is a Citroën Traction Avant (no doubt about that). Since August 1938 the Slough built TA didn't have the double chevrons on the grille anymore (but theydid have a triangular badge that is missing here). I think (though I'm not sure) that this is the UK equivalent of the 11 B (Normale): Big Fifteen (much less common than the Twelve or the Light Fifteen). |

1939 Slough production was: 7C3 Twelve chassis #103-301 11CL3 Light Fifteen #122-551 11C3 Fifteen #116-201. (from http://www.cats-citroen.net/citroen_tractionavant/ta_history_uk.html ). |

I agree with Citroen, the lack of a front bumper threw me completely. Even worse as we had a 1940 registered Citroen 12 when I was a kid. It did have the plated grille, and a front bumper with two spotlights, and a signpost light on the driver's windscreen pillar. The registration was BEA 192, which ran from Nov 1939 to June 1946. The Hansa 1100 commenced production in 1934. |

The Big fifteen was indeed much rarer than the Light Fifteen or the Twelve, but because of the oblong crank hole in the grille this must be a Big Fifteen indeed (the smaller versions had a round hole). |
