First Export on the site? It's for sure proper name? -- Last edit: 2011-08-27 18:55:24 |

Hmmm. To keep it listed as the other similar ones rather 1200 Export. According to my book about VW Käfer it was just Export, but since 1961 the name '1200' can be used indeed (to make the difference between the Käfer and the 1500). -- Last edit: 2011-08-27 18:57:03 |

The "Export" was the better equipped luxoury version, for example to identify (since what year?) by the bumpers with overriders, as the halfly hidden VW on the left has. So the two cars in the middle aren't the "Export"-version. |

According Dr. Ulrich von Pidolls book "VW Käfer - ein Auto schreibt Geschichte" (Hamburg, 1994) there were two versions of the Beetle: Standard and Export (since 1949). He uses the Standard name until the 1965 1200A appears, and Export until the 1966 1300 appears. |

This is correct - and the sunroof-equipped cars were NOT AN OWN MODEL/TRIM LINE! ![]() |
