This pickup has elements of the early 1970's Mazda B-series (door and front fender shape) as well. |

It's actually a 1978 Gyoza. In Toy Story 2 that's what the owner's manual said. -- Last edit: 2007-10-14 20:53:03 |

How do you know that... |
◊ 2007-10-15 01:44 |
The Piggy bank was reading the manual when the toys stole the truck to save Woody. |

Interesting,I didn't even notice that at all. -- Last edit: 2008-04-21 04:41:52 |

I do not think A Toyota Gyoza exits. Gyoza means, meat-filled dumplings in Japanese. If Jun is here, He'll back me up on this. |
◊ 2007-12-14 04:53 |
Meat-filled dumplings? And yes a Gyoza does not exist. |
◊ 2007-12-24 00:57 |
Since it's a "made for movie" and the moviemakers wanted it to be a "Toyota Gyoza" (perhaps as an in-joke), then I'd let it be. |
◊ 2007-12-31 10:03 |
No I was not saying the truck was a Toyota Gyoza as a joke. The truck in the movie was just called a 1978 Gyoza. Toyota was not a part of the name. |

The blimp on the roof is a nice touch. I like how they made the tailgate say "YO" Very nice |

Actually it is a spaceship. The pizza place is called "Pizza Planet" |

Every once in a while I see a Toyota Truck that either says YO or TOY on the tailgate. |

No. I wasn't angry. This truck is probably a 2WD. Will this be your next dream car? |

Dear Sirs around here, is perhaps anyone able to tell our newbie-member from the guano-rock in the Atlantic Ocean, that typing in capital letter is a) impolite and b) fucks the readers up? And that the keyboard is even able to make punctuation, too? Thanks. |
◊ 2008-12-25 22:36 |
I swear that when "Ham" is reading the owners manual it just says "Truck" on it and looks amazingly like the actual owners manual. |
◊ 2009-03-20 21:16 |
I doubt these trucks were made (in real life) in 1978. Interestingly, 1978 was the year Toyota first became big, introducing a new line of trucks, and a new logo. The 1995-1997 Tacoma had this logo on the tailgate as well. |
◊ 2009-05-07 03:35 |
Shouldn't this be listed as 1978 Since it's the same truck as this one? /vehicle_221196-Toyota-Truck-1978.html |
◊ 2009-06-09 00:48 |
This is NOT a 1984. If anything, it should be listed as 1978, which is the year listed in the movie and also the sequel to Toy Story. PLEASE CHANGE THE YEAR TO 1978. |

This truck should be 3 stars right ? |

Instead of it being a Toyota, the brand of the car in the movie is "Gyoza" instead of Toyota because of copywrighting rights. It is Gyoza, not Toyota. That should solve all the confusion. |

There's a "55" sticker on the back, a reference to the famous campaign on lifting the 55 mph speed limit. Also, "I Can't Drive 55" was a song by Sammy Hagar, to push the limit. |

It is said that the Pizza Planet truck was actually owned by Pizza Planet, and they had a whole fleet of them. I think there is only one and it is the delivery guy's personal vehicle. |

I don’t know if Takara or Tomy have made one, but in any case there’s a toy of the Cars version. EDIT: There’s a Hotwheels version - even better! -- Last edit: 2022-02-14 22:27:47 |
