Entire collection:![]() ![]() ![]() Might be also a better equipped "50", but since they have the new 1937+ plates, and it was filmed in ca 1938 perhaps brand new cars. Popularity of Steyers in pre-war Poland is worth some deeper research, today those cars are nearly completely forgotten... |

Very nice little streamlined cars... Indeed would be interesting to know more about their role in Poland ![]() |

Yes those were nice, do not find them very pretty to be honest, but all those 30's streamlined cars had a lot of charm and spirit of the era. ![]() |

And something new for me at least. Steyr 55 was assembled in Poland by ZSWI in "Zygmunt" ironworks (Łagiewniki Śląskie). Such information is to find in 1980s book of eng A. Rummel, who was chief of the construction department in ZSWI, so "rather" knew something about it. ![]() Edit: acc. to book of M.W. Majewski assembly started in 1939 and first ZSWI cars were sent to dealers in 07.1939 (in case of model 55 it was only 40 pcs.). Already a little earlier, the Munich Agreement and growing political tension started to very complicate entire project, only minor final works were made in Poland in these very 1st cars (which also turned out to be the last) and of course WWII stopped everything. For sure before 1939 Steyrs 50/55 had to be imported directly from Steyr. -- Last edit: 2017-07-15 17:41:17 |
