Popularity of Steyers in pre-war Poland is worth some deeper research, today those cars are nearly completely forgotten... |

Yes those were nice, do not find them very pretty to be honest, but all those 30's streamlined cars had a lot of charm and spirit of the era. .gif ";)") |

And something new for me at least. Steyr 55 was assembled in Poland by ZSWI in "Zygmunt" ironworks (Łagiewniki Śląskie). Such information is to find in 1980s book of eng A. Rummel, who was chief of the construction department in ZSWI, so "rather" knew something about it. However year of assembly is unclear to me. The agreement was signed in october 1938, but it was agreement for full production of this car (which ZSWI wanted to start in early 40s). Possible that assembly started after this date, but who knows maybe also a bit earlier... Pictures here are from the spring 1938 IIRC. Edit: acc. to book of M.W. Majewski assembly started in 1939 and first ZSWI cars were sent to dealers in 07.1939 (in case of model 55 it was only 40 pcs.). Already a little earlier, the Munich Agreement and growing political tension started to very complicate entire project, only minor final works were made in Poland in these very 1st cars (which also turned out to be the last) and of course WWII stopped everything.
