looks like a Plymouth Fury |

I think you are right, 1958 Plymouth Fury. The bumper looks a bit basic, though. Perhaps a flashier bumper, like this one: /vehicle_2477-Plymouth-Fury-1958.html was an optional extra! ![]() Will certainly set it apart from the rest of the world! ![]() |

It also can be 1958 Belvedere with "Sport coupe" body. Remember, Furys use gold grille and side trim,as well as bumper guards was standart equipment. Another thing is a 150 MPH speedo |

I agree with Nightrider. It is a Plymouth Belvedere Hardtop Coupe of 1958.Furys had gold anodized trim. |

Not to mention Furies only came in beige. |

No, they also came in white. Although all the Furys I see are in Ford red... |

You're *sort of* right: All 1956 Furies were Eggshell white. All 1957 and 1958 Furies were Buckskin Beige. Starting in 1959, the Fury became the top-level Plymouth sedan and was available in several versions and colors. |

Just watched this chase on YouTube. It cracked me up that this Plymouth kept magically turning into a 1960 Dodge Phoenix 4 door for the smashing scenes. |

...and German (Hamburg) license plates... |

Where it was filmed, resp. where it the movie was set? That car, also the Opel Admiral had plates from Hamburg (but faked anyways. In 1972 there was no second, coloured sticker on front plates), but UNIC-trucker were never sold or used in Germany. And the brand Plymouth wasn't never officially on the German market either. But if I see the Ford 26 M and the 1956 VW in the background, also the other cars (I cannot identify all), but the colours are typical for West Germany in 1972, I can imagine, that this scene was filmed in Germany. BTW: it was always illegal in Germany to use the yellow French lamps in your car. Privately imported cars from France had to get white front lamps to get the registration. |

The IMDB says it was filmed in Hamburg and Rome. http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0069446/locations |

it mite b a plymouth plaza, but more likely it is a belvedere |
◊ 2008-08-04 02:34 |
It is filmed in Hamburg. I recognize the places. |

Can't be a Plaza. It has the full "Flight Sweep" side trim with both lines and contrast (paint or possibly inserts), and is a 2-door hardtop. Plaza models were 2-door or 4-door "post" bodys (meaning coupe or sedan). It's a 1958 Plymouth Belvedere 2-door hardtop "Sport Coupe". -- Last edit: 2010-01-05 23:08:56 |
