In 2005 this car was voted as the 6TH fastest car in the world, believe it or not, it has a powerful engine, and a brilliant design, to help the speed and future buyers |

How can you vote a car as fastest? Without delving into philosophy and the definition of reality, a car is either fastest (or 6th fastest, as it may be), or isn't. And, of course, this isn't even that high up on the list. 6th fastest sedan, maybe (I remember Clarkson talking about it, but I don't remember exactly what it is), but it's not 6th fastest car, period. |

Erm, http://youtube.com/watch?v=1bZmLxDb5RM Don't worry, it proves you wrong almost immediately. 5th fastest saloon car in the world. Note that important part, saloon. There's a wide range of faster sports cars. |

No, this is not the 6th fastest car in the world. Also, the 1984 Tempo commercial made it look like a stock Tempo could go on a loop. |

How was this voted as the 6th fastest car in the world? |

I think it was also mentioned that since the Germans have their agreement to limit their cars to 155mph, that's the only reason this is among the fastest. |

People dont know anything about this car so all you can shut it!! |

To expand, the Ford Taurus SHO is faster, the Chrysler 300C SRT-8 is faster, the Dodge Charger SRT-8 is faster, the Ford Interceptor (concept: 400HP V8 Mustang sedan) and thats just American cars. |

As said above, world = UK, probably ![]() Top speed of the Vauxhall is 161 mph according to official site. I could not find that info on Dodge & Chrysler sites, but I found other site mentionning 165 for the Charger and 168 for the 300C. That's not so much faster, at that point. The difference is still quite small, not like if the Vauxhall was awfully slow compared to the others. -- Last edit: 2007-01-05 14:10:25 |

I doubt very much this was the 6th fastest car sold (even in the UK.!) at this time (definately Not the World) ![]() |

not 6th fastest car, but 6th fastest saloon (sedan) car. That changes a lot. (and btw 6th fastest, not THE fastest, so of course there are others faster) -- Last edit: 2007-01-05 14:48:20 |

Maybe 6th fastest saloon (Only due to the fact that most top manufacturers have 250kmh restrictors/limiters fitted on their cars.! ..otherwise most of these are capable of speeds in excess of 260kmh.! ![]() |

Fastest Saloon in the world is the Mercedes-Benz Brabus Rocket CLS. End.of.Story. |

The Ford Interceptor is just a concept car for now and there are no road-tests with it. So you, me and all of us have no idea what it really is capable of. The Taurus SHO is not faster than the Vectra VXR. The Vectra has 280 Bhp. The (last) Taurus SHO 3.4 V8 only output 235 Bhp. And given the fact the last Taurus SHO has a V8 lump and FWD chassis, I'm pretty sure it is even worse than the Vectra when going around corners. The Chrysler 300C SRT-8 is utter rubbish and it can't stand a chance against the Holden HSV Senator which has a Corvette LS2 engine. However, both these cars would be easily beaten by a Mitsubishi EVO IX. |
◊ 2007-01-20 03:28 |
Actually I don't think the Vectra VXR is really capable of 160 Mph. I mean, as a Vectra owner (It's a company GSI 3.2 V6) I can tell you the car is very stable at high speeds. Fine. But the Vectra has one of the worst chassis ever. A friend of mine who test-drove a VXR Hatchback, told me the VXR Veccy already feels very twitchy when cornering at (not so) high speeds. 280 Bhp and FWD? Utter ridiculous! |

LOL! i have heard that the front differential does not work very well, also rev the car too high, and you blow the turbo, you can quick shift, or even dump the clutch! utter nonsense this car is!! |
◊ 2007-10-29 16:52 |
Isn't this a mark 3? There was the original mark one then facelifted mark 2 then this or am I talking nonsense? |

Doesn't Vauxhall Vectra mkII correspond to Opel Vectra C ? If yes, current model is still the C so also still the mkII I guess. |

Having said, that, I think the whole catastrophic understeer was very staged. Sure it will understeer. But not that bad... |
