Isn't it rather a Corolla sedan? http://automarkt.westline.de/auftrag_bilder/bilder/883484_1.jpg |

You can say that again, it is very doubtfull that the Autobahnpolizei would use this car for patrolling. But perhaps they used it only in situations where speed was not an issue ![]() |
◊ 2006-12-02 23:34 |
They had to use it to chase a speeding Trabant. |

Trabant? they were chasing a Volkswagen Phaeton ... |
◊ 2006-12-18 16:31 |
A Trabant is all plastic, so speeding will be easy... |

Definetly not an American Prius. Which is a hatchback, not a sedan with a trunk. |

Even more strange, this "Polizei" Prius is apparently a US-spec car ! The rear view pic shows that the trunk lid has : - a small recess that can only accomodate US-size (or japan-size) license plates, but not standard european ones. - a very visible aftermarket fog light (Euro-spec Priuses has a more integrated fog light). |

Hello, here comes a comment of a german Prius-Driver: The car you see is a first generation Toyota Prius, model code NHW10. This version was the shakedown-model for Toyota, only sold in Japan from 1997 to 1999 in small numbers. (The successor was the NHW11, which looked similar; this model was also sold officially outside Japan from 2000 to 2003). Some of these NHW10 came to the US and also to Europe via "grey-import". According to some sources only 8 (yes, EIGHT) of these Prius NHW10 have been imported to Germany directly! Remark: The Police in Germany does NOT (and never did) use any Prius as policecars! To the TV stunt: Even for me it is very surprising, that the stunt company ("action concept Film- und Stuntproduktion") was able to acquire one of these few first-gen. Prius that came to Europe. It must have been a Prius that has been damaged in an accident; so wasn't road-worthy any more... Bye, Eisbär -- Last edit: 2007-09-23 22:23:03 |

'Action Concept' reportedly sometimes gets pre-production cars directly from the manufacturers. Those look brand new and are fully operable, but cannot be sold to customers. Could be the case with this Prius, especially as the producers of 'Der Clown' and 'Cobra 11' seem to have a good connection with Toyota. |

Back to the small license plate holder and fog light: maybe it's the repainted and modified /vehicle_634896-Toyota-Prius-NHW10-1998.html ? But LHD, so a US model then as Exiv96 noticed over 14 years ago? Or is this a pre-production mongrel? |

![]() ![]() Never noticed that it was seen later in movie again, or rather a similar non-EU model. |
