DLO is London Dec 1936 to March 1937. It is a Derby Bentley, but the two engine sizes overlap in production at just this period. |

From the movie: "Quite apart from being the most beautiful car you've ever seen, she's fast. 95 miles per hour without even trying. She's absolutely amazing. I've never seen anything like her." |

The two Derby's that I can find with DLO prefix are both 4 1/4L. The crossover from 3 1/2 to 4 1/4 was earlier in 1936. |

The chassis number seems to have appeared during my last post. B129JY currently has a DYM prefix. I do not understand the UK numbering scheme but I thought registration numbers were fixed. |

It depends. If a car is restored and has lost its old plate then it is re-registered. Yet, DYM 800 was first registered in 1937 (if it was re-registered we would expect much later) so I have no idea where B129JY came from. -- Last edit: 2011-10-27 03:14:42 |

I believe this car is not B129JY (quite a famous Gurney Nutting 3-Position-Drophead Coupé) but B39JY bodied by Vanden Plas and simply marked as a Drop Head Coupe, and still a 4 1/4L. -- Last edit: 2011-10-27 03:18:58 |

This is indeed B39JY, at that time Bentley Motors Trials Car, sold April 1938 to Mr Aisher, and now in the Mulhouse Motor Museum. |
