1968-1971 VW 1500 Cabriolet |

Oh, it had an original VW-radio (rubber knobs with VW-logo on, pre-1972 due the chromated bezel). Not exactly to identify, if "Emden", "Wolfsburg" or "Hannover". Unusual, because in many export-countries -Italy, too, also Britain and Sweden- the VW-own radio-range wasn't available. Or only some singe models and not for all cars and not during all years. ![]() Btw.: my Italo-K 70 had a "Motorola"-radio (I haven't known before, that this company has built radios), since the day, the first owner has bought it at the dealer. P.S. The VW-radios were made by Blaupunkt. VW-spec were the different names and other knobs and bezels. If you have ordered a VW-radio aftersales market, but at a VW-dealer, it was often a Grundig made one. But optical identical. |

Car has vent slots in the rear lid. Wouldn't that help narrow it down? |

The vents are o.k. for these model-years of the Cabriolet. Maybe 5503 knows more details for separting the model-years of it, but except maybe the colour I don't think, that there were that many parts changed. It's defintely not newer than 1971, because then, up to 1973, the Cabriolet was based on the 1302 (in the USA the first Super Beetle), which has the higher front with the McPherson-suspension. P.S.the black paint on the bumper is not original. -- Last edit: 2011-10-31 22:51:43 |

P.S.II IIRC all Cabriolets over all years had vents in the engine lid. |

Dashbord molding 1968-69. Fuel-lid is inside open type. I think 1969 model. -- Last edit: 2011-11-01 15:01:54 |
