Another great car . |

Ah yes the Sh!tvrolet Crapolier. I hired one while I was in American back in 2004. It was brand new and I hired for only 1 week. One of the worst cars I've ever driven! I asked Hertz to replace with another car...they gave me that f*cking ugly 2004 Chevy Malibu. Another disgusting car! |

...why is it you love some of the worst cars to come out of America.? (.. why all the compact rubbish.?) |

Real mature. The reasons I love them are as follows: 1. Someone has to. 2. They are actually really good cars, people just don't give them a chance. 3. They are unique, and aren't famous which is good because it is good to be different. Like a wise soul once said: "Don't follow the crowd. Nobody goes there any more, its too crowded." Also, there is usually nothing wrong with them . It is usually idiots who happen to suck at driving, then blame it on the car. Just like people say: "My SUV just started swerving all over the road! It was like Christine, and I had nothing to do with it even though I was driving." |

Ahh, forgot to add this. I put all these "Sh!tvolets", Fords and Dodges above every single Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Land Rover, BMW, Ferrari and any other of your fancy peices of pastic junk: Ford Tempos, Mercury Topaz', Chevrolet Corsicas, Dodge Spirits, Ford Pintos, Chevrolet Monzas, Chevy Cavaliers, Nissan Stanzas, Mercury Mystiques, Ford Contours and any other 1990s entry level sedan, wagon or coupe. -- Last edit: 2006-08-01 02:59:44 |

Eh, quality control wasn't exactly GM's high point in the 80's either. My parents bought a brand new Sunbird in '85, by '93, it was almost dead (and my parents aren't hard on cars at all). Of all the cars GM could've built for about 20 years, the Cavalier was hardly their best choice. I at least somewhat get the Tempo thing (perhaps not the severity of it, but the basic spirit, at least), but the Cavalier is nothing more than a throwaway car. |

Well, it may not have been the best, but I truely like these "throwaway" cars, and probably always will. Somebody has to love them and remember them, otherwise they'll be forgotten. And, I don't know if it will keep, but I plan to buy and collect these cars such as Tempos and Corsicas. Also, what makes the Ford Tempo, so inferior to a 2006 Citroen C3? The Tempo will get you there, as would the C6. And, remember, cars were invented to get you from point A to point B, and the Corsicas, Topaz', Tempos, Spirits, Stanzas and Cavaliers did, and gave you an enjoyable ride on your way. My Tempo has never broken down, ever. It has never not started for me, and this is in Alaska. It is the best car I've ever known, out of countless 2000's cars I have driven or partly owned. -- Last edit: 2006-08-01 03:08:51 |

I much preferred the Cavalier that Vauxhall made, espically the mk2 SRI. The 2003 one was ok |

? You can make something out of every name or make. Like Sh*troen or Ford> First On Race Day (or, Fix or Repair daily). And, you can not really say "Sh*tvrolet" very easy, but Sh#troen... |

Would that happen to have been one of those? We had one of those as a rental car in America in 2004. I waited at the hotel room while my friends went to collect a rental car from downtown San Francisco. We had booked a full size car and I expected them to be back in about 40 minutes with that, instead 5 hours passed by until they FINALLY came back with that piece of crap. I was extremely pissed off. I couldn't believe that after waiting all those hours in a queue with appalling customer service apparently, that the bastards at Alamo gave them a smaller car than what they paid for and worse still, THEY accepted it. I initially asked them to go and return it but we had a 200 mile drive ahead of us and we were already at least 4 hours ahead of schedule. Fortunately Alamo refunded the extra cash we'd paid for a full size car at the end, but we've never hired from those clowns since. -- Last edit: 2008-04-25 11:43:54 (antp) |

5 hours to rent a car? how is that possible? |
◊ 2008-04-25 21:09 |
It was a rental location in the middle of downtown San Francisco at a busy weekend in the summer. Apparently there was only two guys dealing with a huge queue of people, one of which disappeared halfway through. Since then, we've only hired from airport or hotel locations. Here is the piece of crap itself: |

I know I'm posting late but I feel I should give an owner's perspective. Me and my family have owned 5 Cavaliers... 1990 wagon, 1992 wagon, 2001 Z24, 2002 sedan, and 2003 sedan. They aren't the most stylish cars on the road and admittedly, interiors could use some work but all but the Z24 have been reliable to us. We still have the 2002 and 2003. The wagons died of rust... very common problem in NE USA. I'll admit the Z24 had hideously bad reliability due to the fact that it had the speedy but unreliable child of the Quad4... the Twin-Cam. I'm not saying these are the best cars on the road but from my experiences, I don't think they should be called complete rubbish. |

Cavaliers were cheap. They were all many people could afford. I've had 2 of them because I could get a newer, lower mileage Cavalier for a lower price than most other cars. They were popular with high school and college students because of their cost. They weren't made for car enthusiasts, they were made for ordinary people on tight budgets who didn't care about things like speed or luxury. And Chevy got the last laugh because they sold a ton of them. |
