I think these are Stutz's. In the film they are all products of a fictionary car brand Darco Motor Company. |

I would agree with Raul 1983 that those may be Stutz's with disguised name medallions .At least the right ( darker) car , also appearing on the right thumbnail matches the 1919 Stutz Bearcat model with the cowl and step over body sides as illustrated on page 74 of " Racing Stutz" by Mark Howell, Ballantines Illustrated History of the car , number 2, march 1972.I did not find an illustration of the left lighter colored car , may be an earlier Sportabout ? |

Yes these are Stutzes. Compare the engine with the one on this page - http://www.coolcatcorp.com/millerauction/MillerAuction.html - it is a T-head four with four valves per cylinder and dual ignition. Bore 4 3/8", stroke 6" - for 360 cubic inches. They are both touring cars - the one on the left is an earlier model, possibly a 1917 Series R Bulldog and the one on the right has the later radiator design an is possibly a 1919 Series G 4 passenger close coupled touring. -- Last edit: 2011-11-19 19:19:12 |
