Here are some nice images about the Isetta, which was classed as 'Motocoupé' by BMW. Link to "stern.de" In its time it was a bestseller, only surpassed by the Glas Goggomobil. The price compared to wages it can be compared with todays entry level 116i ... but only in that respect, i guess. ![]() |

Some UK Isettas are listed as Isetta (without BMW; /vehicles.php?make=isetta&model= ), but this one clearly shows the BMW logo |

Rare RHD German built BMW Isetta with export headlights & bumpers. Most RHD were Brighton built British examples. |

I guess it´s the first time I see a BMW built Isetta with right hand drive and US-market adaptations. Best regards, Ernesto. |

Weren't the Isetta's made for UK threewheelers for tax-reasons? Originally it has two back wheels. |

Yes, provided it had only three wheels and no reverse gear (or reverse was blanked off) it qualified as a motorcycle, attracting a much lower rate of tax. It could also be driven on a m/c driving licence. |
