![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Until I thought in 'Diplomat' this car was getting me crazy. 51 & 52 US Desotos got 7 independents vertical bars on grille, apart two more on both side of the grille wrapping front fenders (9 bars) and this only gets 5 independents vertical bars and two more on sides (7 altogether) Also 51 and 52 US DeSotos got De Soto script on grill and this got it in a chrome. 1951 De Soto Link to "www.flickr.com" 1952 De Soto http://www.desoto.org/gallery?g2_itemId=924 1951 De Soto Diplomat (sedan) in Brazil http://www.armazemw70.com.br/fotos/1199542401.jpg Also, looking in De Soto model production, there were not 2-Door Station Wagon. Does anybody know how this was called? Just Diplomat SW? or, maybe, Diplomat Custom Suburban as 1955 /vehicles.php?make=De+Soto&model=Diplomat+Custom+Suburban&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on ? -- Last edit: 2011-11-28 13:08:07 |

At least in Europe , the DeSoto Diplomat models based on the Plymouth all steel 2 door wagons 1949-1954 were referred as " Utility" or sometimes " Commercial Utility" in English ( " Utilitaire " in French ) brochures. This also applied to the corresponding Dodge Kingsway .The name "Station Wagon" was only used on the 4 door Custom model woodies : 2 door wagons were not listed in the Custom lines. So this one is a 1951 DeSoto Diplomat Utility ( SP-23) on the 118 1/2 inch wheelbase , based on the 1951 Plymouth Concord Suburban P-22. |
