I'd say this is a 1956 Clipper (so officially not a Packard)... -- Last edit: 2011-12-07 20:18:59 |

Agreed, but which model? Deluxe, Super, or Custom? |

I did not know that. Clipper independent brand from Packard? For the discussion BTW packardinfo.com list them as Packard Link to "packardinfo.com" Link to "packardinfo.com" Link to "packardinfo.com" Link to "packardinfo.com" And they add in the info of these models Clipper is now formally registered as a separate make for 1956. As such, Packard script plate is eliminated, but later reinstated in production and offered to previous owners as a retrofit -- Last edit: 2011-12-07 22:00:53 |

Oh dear... Maybe better to change to Packard, then. Also these: /vehicles.php?make=Clipper&model= |

Personally, I vote "Packard Clipper", per the quoted reasoning. Currently, the 2 other listings we have are under "Clipper". It doesn't involve changing much. Didn't want to unilaterally change an official make designation unless we had basic concensus among the members here. The subject car is not a Deluxe, which did not have the unique 2-tone side pattern. Both the Super and Custom had it. As to Custom vs Super, the Customs had rocker panel trim as standard but same was available on the Supers. Cannot tell if the subject car has this trim. -- Last edit: 2011-12-07 22:02:07 |

Yes, for 1956 only, Clipper was a separate make. Mine is titled Clipper as it should be, not Packard. This is a legal definition, not an arbitrary one for use as one pleases. -- Last edit: 2018-10-18 00:01:13 |

See my comment quoted by vilero above. For the reasons stated, I feel that the '56 is properly listed as a "Packard Clipper". |
