This is a 1913 McCurd 5-ton 32.4hp 4-cyl petrol sugar delivery lorry, registered BC 2365. The McCurd Lorry Mfg. Co. Ltd was a relatively short-lived maker. Between 1912 and 1914 some bonneted worm-drive lorries for 2, 3 and 5 tons were built at Hayes by engineer W.A. McCurd. After World War I, production of these was continued until 1921 but then suspended. In 1925 the company was relocated to Slough in Buckinghamshire as McCurd Motors and a few newly designed 2½-tonners were built up to 1927 when the company ceased trading. |
