It looks to me as if the steering wheel is on the left. |

It is a GAZ 12 ZIM (1950-59). http://www.gaz.co.yu/istorijat/Zim.jpg |

I guess that's not much of a surprise, since Soviet-made cars tended to imitate many of ours. -- Last edit: 2006-10-25 02:40:37 |

Two others were listed with « 'ZIM' » instead of « ZIM » |

When in 1948 the GAZ factory got the contract (was ordered) to create a limousine slightly less prestigious as the ZiS-110 but noble enough for top brass (so much for communism) they had been temporarily renamed to 'ZIM' (Zavodi Imeni Molotova), which was later kept as part of the name. Therefore I wouldn't put it in quotes. They had 29 month to create a brand new car. That is not enough time for a completely new constuction and Buick styling and quality was quite favourable in those years. |

It's not a ZIL Limousine. That's a GAZ-12 ZIM. |

This car confuses me; if Austin was a baby in 1950, he would've been 17 when he was frozen in 1967 but in the first movie he looks like he's in his late-'20s and that's being VERY generous but this also film shows him at college graduation and he would've been in his early-20s and since he would've been 17 when he was frozen then oh no, I've gone cross-eyed... |

Probably he was born in the 1940s and probably it was set in the 1940s even though I'm sure it looks like a 1940s car, And I'm thinking Austin's family traveled with a time machine to 2002 or any other years. |
