Strange looking K3! This an 'R' Type of 1935. |

You mean R-Type instead of K3? Or instead of Parnell K3 ? Or just appended to that name? |

Its a K3 Magnette. Parnell was the name of a driver (perhaps this driver) but not the name of the car. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKGWoc1oeEw -- Last edit: 2007-09-06 20:34:53 |

This car was owned and raced by Reg Parnell (1911 - 1964). Parnell was a famous pre and post-war racing driver (6 Grands Prix) and then a team owner. The car has a long and complicated history and has been raced by many people. However, in MG racing circles it is always known as the Parnell K3. Technically it is, as wrenchhead says, a K3 Magnette...but it has a twin cam engine and a single seater body! Personally I would like to see the name Parnell included because it is a historically important 'special' associated with a famous owner and can be uniquely identified by Parnell's name. -- Last edit: 2007-09-07 00:48:18 |
