Not as a LHD. I recall there was some Soviet film with trucks disguised as fictional Western brands. Probably a screencap from that movie? |

Found it: there was a British company called Dowsett Engineering Construction Ltd, and the logo is a match. Link to "www.facebook.com" Dowsett Engineering Construction Ltd, later Dow-Mac, made pre-cast concrete pillars and beams for motorway construction. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tallington#Dow-Mac |

They were delivered in small numbers (in total - 440 units) for the UK market between 1971-79 and sold through the British dealer UMO (United Machinery Organization) under the BelAZ brand : Link to "autohs.ru" They didn't differ much from the Soviet models. The steering wheel and other controls remained as they were, just like on the original models. UK ad : ![]() https://auto.onliner.by/2021/12/10/belaz-for-highway -- Last edit: 2023-07-23 19:17:59 |

Since BelAZ was a completely unknown brand, I half expected them to sell them as Lada trucks like they did with the Aleko here and the Tavria in Chile ![]() |

Can't find any listing in 1970s Glass's for BelAZ, but they do give an address for UAZ concessionaires as UMO Plant Ltd in Letchworth, Hertfordshire, so confirms something did happen. ^ Lada cars in the 70s were distributed here by Satra Motors in Bridlington, N Yorkshire who also did UK Moskviches. |

UMO were already importing BelAZ dump trucks, which is why they decided to rebrand KrAZ trucks as BelAZ. Translated by Google: https://auto.onliner.by/2021/12/10/belaz-for-highway |

I have quite a bit on these in old construction mags. In UK construction some say they were crap some say they were OK if looked after. Muckshifting / earthmoving is a very tough game ! ![]() |
