As the Brasilia is the theorical sucessor of the Beetle, is still Typ 1 And, the car is made to Brazil, as the mexican Brasilia is the same than the brazilian See ya! []'s |

There were some differences between the "Mexican Brasilia" and the original one made in Sao Bernardo do Campo. The most clear differences are in the bumpers and in the wheels. Great VW cars not fully recognized by VW in Germany. There isn't any of them at the Volkswagen Museum in Wolfsburg, neither at the Zeithaus in the modern Autostadt. |

I have to give a full and complete confirmation of your first sentence.  They made to many stupid and idiotic things, that I've dropped my contacts, resp. never intensified them. I was annoyed to often.The story of the 1938 Audi Front with the 1977-Audi 80-hubcaps still pisses me, even 10 years later.  I'm helping them to hold their car Link to "de.wikipedia.org" in running condition (it's far away from showroom-condition  ), that's all.Fuel tank, cigarette-lighter and sunshield-holder are from me. A free gift out of pity, because I couldn't suffer the poor condition of a car in a classic car show room of one of the biggest car-companies in the world. P.S. Many of their best cars, they had bought later on from private persons. Still the freaks in the VW-clubs are owning better cars than they... |

Talking with a colleague from Uruguay, could not stop telling, pathos and LAMENTABLE THAT THIS CAR WAS. It started in the middle, caught fire, was slow and was very poorly constructed. He said he had never seen one in good condition and do not last long. Expected. |

I've heard similar about the quality of Brazilian made VW's from my friend, the only guy in Europe, who own several Brazil-VW's as two SP's, a Karmann TC, one or two watercooled T2b from 2000 and also one early four-door 1600. It took many years, several helping friends and a few South America-trips to find finally good cars. All these older VW's were disappeared in the 90ies and that, which were still on the road, were in poorest condition. And this was not only a result of the treatment by the owners, also by the quality of VW do Brazil. Same I've also heard from the owners of the very last Beetles/Fuscas/Käfer, which were privately imported to Europe. The Brazilian made spare parts have a bad reputation, too. We hesitated before we have ordered some dozens of back wheel-brake-cylinders (the pre-1974 K 70 has the same as the 1968+ Typ 1). We made it, after a guy with knowledge has confirmed, that they are in the regular German VW-quality. "Brasilien-Chrom" became a swearword in the German VW-freak-scene. The bumpers shall be the poorest made ever. |
