This is a "made for movie" car, the "Arivederci" (a "good buy in any language"), a car Bilko and his men manufacture themselves to compete with the influx of foreign, compact, economy cars then flooding the U.S. market. Yeah, I think it is a Dauphine. The only thing that irritates me is the grill work on the front. Probably fake but it looks better than the rest of the car which looks like crap. |

The joke was how weird the car looked to the audience, but characters within the show loved it and thought it was "next year's model." Col. Hall even wanted to get rid of his own Dauphine for this one. |
