'75+ Cadillac Seville |

One more time. No such thing as a "1975 Cadillac Seville", no matter what Wikipedia or other such sources say. The first models were all VIN-coded as 1976 models. |

Made for Japan due to the amber lenses installed in the tail lamps. |

The Seville was one of the last vehicles to be mass-edited for the Japanese market. After that, all regulation changes would be done by private customizers. More of these "Japanese Seville's" are on this site, too! /vehicle_235802-Cadillac-Seville-1976.html /vehicle_153407-Cadillac-Seville-1977.html |

Was it popular? |

In the 50's and 60's, when Japan's economy was exploding, ALL american road barges were popular, but in the 70's, when emission testing became strict in Japan, and many American vehicles saw the crusher for being noncompliant ( /vehicle_42221-Pontiac-Chieftain-1957.html ) they began to fizzle out. The Seville WAS popular because it got better gas mileage, was small enough to fit in the small congested motorways of Japan, but it was still a Cadillac. In these days, however, the only ones to buy them were hotshot corporate types and Gangsters. |
