Looks like Nissan/Datsun. Were sold in Australia as Pulsar but we never had two door hatchback, only four door. Year is about 1985. They were also sold in Australia as Holden Astra so possibly could have been badged as Vauxhall/Opel in Europe.

Yes, it's Nissan Cherry for me too, in Europe produced from 1981 as... Alfa-Romeo Arna.

Arnas were marketed between 1984-1986.

This has no name badge on the front grille but this is set in England so it should a Nissan Cherry (what kind of name is that for a car) rather than a Pulsar. Were they any Datsun Cherrys (or should that be Cherries?)?

Yes and no. I think it was sold as Datsun-Nissan Cherry at first and later (c.1984- ) Nissan Cherry.

I read about dates 1981, 1982. :D But yes, it was probably 1983.

Whether it's a Nissan or Datsun, Cherry is still a stupid, weedy name for a car, unless it's for a toy car for little kids.
