This is not a 1971 Coupe, this is a 1973 Grande. The 1971 had M U S T A N G in individual letters across the decklid, but 1972 and '73 had a small Mustang script emblem on the right hand corner of the decklid. FYI, bumper guards on 1971/1972 models were optional, and extend above and below the extremities of the main bumper. They are positioned together narrower than the '73 guards, hence, they line up with the honeycomb panel. As shown here, the 1973 bumper guards - now a standard feature - do not extend above the main bumper, and they are spaced to fall between the two inner lenses of the taillights.
