From this era I think they are called Vanden Plas Princess - qv - /vehicles.php?make=Vanden+Plas&model=Princess+4-litre+Limousine&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on&page=3 |

Tha designations used for the car, which only had very minor changes between 1952 and 1968, were as follows: - Austin Princess 4-litre Limousine October 1952 to August 1957 Princess 4-litre Limousine August 1957 to Mid 1960 Vanden Plas Princess 4-litre Limousine Mid 1960 to 1968 So if there is a view of the car showing the number plate, and the plate is genuine, we can work out what to call the car. It certainly is not an Austin, as there is no Flying "A" above the radiator. -- Last edit: 2012-07-03 14:54:25 |

That's because the car you reference is incorrectly identified. UYW is a London County Council registration, allocated between February and October 1958, making the car a Princess 4-litre Limousine, again not an Austin. The problem we have with the car in the picture above is trying to work out whether it is a Princess, or a Vanden Plas Princess. http://www.simoncars.co.uk/vanden-plas/v135.html -- Last edit: 2012-07-03 17:48:04 |

I'd suggest calling this one a VdP - a Princess would be 22+ years old for the film date and had shorter production. |

If we can't date the car, then I'd agree with your analysis. |

Glass's and Robson's Cars of BMC give no details which would be visible here. The only thing I can think of is orange indicators which in general BMC terms came in about 1960. |
