It is a Hanomag Markant (1960-67). |

What is actually the difference between a Markant and a Garant or Kurier? I remember them all from when I was a kid. Sturdy beasts they were. I seem to remember that there also were tractor units made by a company called Enser? Also note the nice Opel Blitz ambulance in the pic with what seems to be a Miesen body, two Rekord P1s, one of them a Caravan and what seems to be a Mercedes 319 van. What a shame that the series isn't available on DVD. This is car spotter heaven if you are into German tin. |

The Markant is the one with the largest load capacity, 3.2t if I remember correctly. The Kurier is the lightest and the Garant in between. The Enser uses the Kurier cab and the heavier chassis and rear axle of the Garant. The chassis was shortend and a ballast box added. They were still being sold under the Hanomag name as 'Hanomag Typ Enser'. http://www.hanomag-kurier.de/enser.htm http://www.hanomag-kurier.de/history2.html -- Last edit: 2006-09-12 19:34:13 |
